Southern Cross Cruises is the only operator formally licensed by the Department of Environmental Affairs to operate boat-based whale watching cruises in the Buffalo City area.

The permit allows a Southern Cross vessel to draw within 50m of whales and dolphins for a spectacular close-up encounter (non-permit holders are not allowed to approach closer than 300m). The also offer eco-tours across the Bay.
